Site Visit to learn Green Practices (21 December 2010)

NWS Environmental Committee organized a site visit to the City University of Hong Kong on 21 December 2010 to learn about its green practices including water recycling facility, no-water flushing system, recycled brick applications and solar energy system.

Hong Kong 2010 Carfree Day (22 September 2010)

To mitigate climate change, NWS Holdings supported the Greenpeace Hong Kong Carfree Day on 22 September 2010 by appealing to staff to use public transport or travel on foot that day.

NWS Environmental Committee initiated Environmental Seminar 2010
(1 September 2010)

On the theme of "Low-carbon Era Driven by New Green Solutions", Environmental Seminar 2010 was held at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 1 September 2010 by the NWS Environmental Committee. The Group had the honour of inviting Prof. Henry Chung, Associate Dean of Faculty of Science and Engineering - City University of Hong Kong, to give a presentation on developments in green lighting. Elina Lam, General Manager-Human Resources of NWS Holdings, shared her experience in obtaining CarbonLess Certificate. Patricia Chung, General Manager of Environmental Pioneers and Solutions Limited, gave an introduction to the trend of E-waste management. Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited was presented with the Environmental Grand Award in recognition of its achievements in green initiatives.

Site Visit to Green Projects (4 June 2010)

On 4 June 2010, NWS Environmental Committee organized a site visit to North East New Territories Landfill of Far East Landfill Technologies Limited and Ngau Tam Mei Animal Waste Composting Plant of New Green Environmental Sciences Limited. Over 20 participants learnt about the operation of waste treatment and the use of landfill gas as an energy source at the landfill site, as well as the pioneering rotatory in-vessel composting technology used for converting horse waste into organic fertilizers.

Corporate Sustainability for Schools Programme (9 March 2010)

Being a Corporate Partner of the Corporate Sustainability for Schools Programme, NWS Holdings strives to promote corporate sustainability to secondary school students. On 9 March 2010, the Group organized a site visit to City One Shatin, a property managed by Urban Property Management Limited, for a group of students from Caritas Wu Cheng-chung Secondary School to learn about the green facilities at the property and the Group's sustainability strategy.
