Andersen Club. Various programmes included team games, storytelling, and Santa
Claus fashion design competition. |
Storyland Series V Volunteer Training and Story Game Day
(19-20 September 2005)
NWS Volunteer Alliance invited the social worker from Hans Andersen Club to
conduct a training session for volunteers, focusing on children service skills
and storytelling techniques. The volunteers practiced what they learnt in the
Story Fun Day, in which they designed different games for more than 30 children
to enhance their creativity and presentation skills. |
| Storyland Series V Bus Depot Visit (23 July 2005)
For its first time, the Storyland series co-organized by NWS Volunteer Alliance
and Hans Anderson Club was moved from indoor to outdoor, as about 32 children
visited NWFB's bus depot in Chai Wan. The children, together with volunteers,
showed their excellent creativity in the stories they made about buses. |
| Fun with English 2005 (May V June 2005)
NWS Volunteer Alliance launched another series of English phonics classes for
about 70 K2 students of Moon Lok Kindergarten this year. The classes were
characterized with interactive games and group tutoring to help students
acquire basic knowledge of pronunciation and interest in English. More than 70
volunteers helped in this activity on six consecutive Saturdays. |
| Po Leung Kuk Sponsors' Day (21 May 2005)
As one of the corporate sponsors of Child Sponsorship Programme, NWS Holdings
participated in the Sponsors' Day held annually by Po Leung Kuk. Ms Maria
Cheung, Senior Manager V Corporate Communication, and Ms Bernadette Ho, a
devoted volunteer, shared experience on stage on behalf of NWS Holdings. A game
booth was also set up outside the venue for children and their families to
enjoy a happy weekend together. |
Story reading to improve children's language proficiency
(January V April 2005)
NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in the storytelling programme organized by
Storyland of Hans Anderson Club. Volunteers read interesting storybooks and
play games with primary school children to raise their interest and ability in
reading and pronunciation.

| Chinese New Year Party for Po Leung Kuk children (5 February 2005)
To celebrate Chinese New Year, NWS Volunteer Alliance visited Po Leung Kuk and
played games with some thirty children residing there. They also made creative
ornaments with red packets together for decorating their living space. |
Po Leung Kuk children joined NWS Holdings' Sports Fun Day
(9 January 2005)
NWS Holdings invited 50 children from Po Leung Kuk Houses to participate in its
annual Sports Fun Day. Accompanied by volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance,
they had fun in various game booths and other activities. The children also
joined 50 staff members of NWS Holdings in forming a big "heart" that
symbolized the Group's commitment in community care. |
