Fairy mentors and mentees had fun together (July to August 2009)

NWS Volunteer Alliance and Hans Andersen Club co-organized a Fairy Mentorship programme in May 2008, in which volunteers and their child mentees provide volunteer services together. The mentors and mentees joined a reunion activity and shared their experience in volunteering on 18 July 2009. Five pairs of them were awarded the Highest Service Hour Award.

On 22 August 2009, around 30 mentors and mentees attended the Balloon Twisting Workshop. Six trained volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance taught participants basic balloon twisting skills in making balloons of various shapes. Participants who benefited from the experience would apply the skills in future volunteer activities.

Necessities collected for students (March to April 2009)

In March and April 2009, NWS Holdings collected over 1,600 hotel bathroom amenities and rain gear items from staff and donated them to Fresh Fish Traders' School, 40% of whose students come from families under the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance Scheme. The activity aimed to lessen the economic burden of the poor students and facilitate environment conservation. New China Laundry Limited also provided free laundry services for the school.
