Scarf Knitting Programme (December 2002)

The Social Welfare Department has collected 39,000 scarves from over 9,000 volunteers in its scarf knitting programme held late last year. Among those scarves, 70 big and 35 small were contributed by our volunteers. In a similar campaign initiated by the Urban Group Community Care Team of Urban Property Management Ltd, 1,200 plus scarves were donated and attached with a greeting card by its staff and residents before being sent to the senior citizens living in eight estates under its management.

Walkalong for Light (17 November 2002)

Nearly 40 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance and New World China Enterprises Projects Limited joined the charity walk titled BOC (HK) Walkalong for Light organized by the Lifeline Express, a hospital train providing free eye operations for cataracts patients living in the remote area of Mainland China. NWS Holdings was a Gold sponsor of the event.

Rice Donation for Low Income Families (23 March 2002)

Having collected 210 kg of rice, volunteers of Millennium Engineering Limited distributed the rice to the low-income families in Sham Shui Po.
