ACCA Charity Fun Day (19 December 2004)
NWS Holdings was one of the major sponsors of this event for the third
consecutive year. Apart from setting up a game booth, we participated in the
exciting rickshaw race. Funds raised from the event will be donated to Hong
Kong Down Syndrome Association, Hong Kong PHAB Association, and The
Intellectually Disabled Education and Advocacy League. |
| Hiking for Rehabilitation (19 December 2004)
The New Horizon Club of Hong Kong, a self-help organization for cancer patients,
organized a hiking competition at Pineapple Dam of Shing Mun Reservoir, with an
aim to encourage the habit of exercising among discharged cancer patients. NWS
Volunteer Alliance members provided assistance to this meaningful competition
in work such as participant registration. |
Fundraising for various social service organizations
(October V November 2004)
Volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in a number of flag-selling
activities and charity sale during October and November, including raffle
ticket sale for Patients Resource Centre of Queen Elizabeth Hospital (17
October), Flag Day for Hans Anderson Club (23 October), Qile Charity Cakes Sale
for Haven of Hope Christian Service (13 November) and Flag Day for The Hong
Kong Society For the Aged (27 November). |
| Volunteers help raise fund in flag days (July V August 2004)
The volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance took part in several flag days in July
and August which helped raise fund for UNICEF Hong Kong Committee, Hong Kong
Kidney Foundation and Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service respectively. |
| Flag Day for Agency for Volunteer Service (10 July 2004)
Twelve volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance participated in flag selling for
Agency for Volunteer Service to raise fund for its development of volunteer
training and resource centre. |
| Orientation for new volunteers (23 April 2004)
Held at the training room of New World First Bus Services Limited, the
orientation session included an introduction to NWS Volunteer Alliance, as well
as a presentation on service skills by representatives from Social Welfare
Department. Through role plays, discussions and sharing with experienced
volunteers, the participants were well equipped to serve the people in need. |
| Dolphin watching tour for volunteers (12 April 2004)
To thank volunteers for their continuous support to NWS Volunteer Alliance, NWS
Holdings sponsored nearly 90 volunteers and their associates to watch the
highly endangered Chinese White Dolphin and visit Tai O, coordinated by Eco
Action. |
