Haircutting service for the elderly (October to December 2008)

Volunteers provided haircut service for elderly residents of Care & Services Elderly Centre (North Point), Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po Neighbourhood Elderly Centre, Po Leung Kuk District Elderly Community Centre and H.K.S.K.H Tsz Wan Shan Day Care Centre for the Elderly from October to December 2008.

Mid-Autumn gathering with the elderly (13 September 2008)

NWS Volunteer Alliance joined hands with YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre to organize a Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration event for the elderly as part of the "Life Rejuvenation Scheme 2008 - Family Harmony" on 13 September 2008. Waihong Environmental Services recruited over 70 volunteers to pay home visits to the elderly residents of Model Housing Estate and Hong Tung Estate in Eastern District and present them with moon cakes. The evening celebration was held at the Quarry Bay Park, where over 200 elderly and 50 volunteers enjoyed the magic and clown performance and games prepared by members of NWS Volunteer Alliance.

NWS cares for the Elderly (6 September 2008)

NWS Volunteer Alliance, in conjunction with Jockey Club Kwai Fong Youth S.P.O.T of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, organized a visit on 6 September 2008 to the elderly to share with them the joy of Mid-Autumn Festival. Volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance and members of the Leadership Training for Young Generation 2008 paid visits to the elderly residents of the Tai Wo Hau Christa Tisdall Jockey Club Care Home. Through a programme of games and shows, including Chinese yoyo acrobatics, performance by the volunteer choir, friendly chats and a sharing session, the volunteers brought a message of love and care to the elderly participants.

Elderly Visit (7 June 2008)

On the weekend before the Dragon Boat Festival (7 June 2008), Waihong Environmental Services recruited more than 50 volunteers from NWS Volunteer Alliance to join a door-to-door visit organized by Hong Kong YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre to deliver rice dumplings to the elderly in Sai Wan Ho and Quarry Bay.

A day of fun with the elderly (12 January 2008)

Volunteers of NWS Volunteer Alliance took part in the carnival organized by the Po Leung Kuk Kwun Tong District Elderly Community Centre on 12 January 2008. The carnival was held at Kwun Tong Recreation Ground, where NWS volunteers formed a cheer-leader team and entered various team competitions together with the elderly participants. Despite the scorching sun, our team became the overall champion of the event. Treated to a host of other wonderful performances, the volunteers enjoyed a most pleasant and memorable weekend with the elderly participants.
