Mid-Autumn Festival celebratory event (10 September 2011)
On 10 September 2011, NWS Volunteer Alliance and YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre co-organized a Mid-Autumn Festival celebratory event for the 10th consecutive year. Under the theme of harmonious family, the event took place in Quarry Bay Park. Over 200 elderly participants practised healthy exercises led by NWS Volunteer Alliance members and enjoyed singing and dancing performance as an early festive celebration.
Volunteers also visited the elderly in Sai Wan Ho and Quarry Bay and sent their blessings with fresh fruits and mooncakes to the elderly in the morning on the same day. |
Elderly home safety training (20 August 2011)
On 20 August 2011, 20 NWS Volunteer Alliance members attended a home safety training jointly organized by NWS Holdings and YWCA to equip themselves with home safety knowledge, which will contribute to serving the elderly in the forthcoming visits. |
Elderly visits and Cantonese opera charity performance (June 2011)
More than 30 volunteers from Hip Hing and Vibro visited YWCA Ming Yue District Elderly Community Centre and around 50 elderly living in Sai Wan Ho before the Dragon Boat Festival to present them with rice dumplings.
On 11 June 2011, a large-scale Cantonese Opera Charity Performance was jointly organised by Hip Hing, Vibro and YWCA. Over 80 volunteers took up event support duties and offered meticulous care to the elderly. |
Caring elderly visits (9 April 2011)
More than 40 NWS Volunteer Alliance members participated in the elderly home visit organized by Po Leung Kuk Lau Chan Siu Po District Elderly Community Centre on 9 April 2011. NWS Volunteer Alliance also received an award from the centre for its active participation in elderly service.

Elderly Chinese New Year Lunch (22 January 2011)
On 22 January 2011, 28 NWS Volunteer Alliance members participated in the Elderly Chinese New Year Lunch organized by S.K.H. Holy Carpenter Church Kowloon City Integrated Home Care Services Team. The volunteers escorted the elderly participants to the restaurant and presented them with gift bags, etc. to celebrate the forthcoming Chinese New Year.
